A sermon discussion guide ready the same week
Extend the Sermon builds a small-group discussion guide from Sunday's sermon, with leader notes, an opening question, nine numbered questions and a closing prayer already written. It downloads as a PDF in your church's colors, fonts and logo, ready to hand a volunteer leader the same week the sermon was preached.
Everything we make is yours to post, send, and keep.
Sunday's message landed hard, and by Wednesday two of your group leaders have asked what they're supposed to do with it. The answer is a blank document you're still opening between the midweek slides and a bulletin that's already late.
Skip it and the message stops in the parking lot. Leaders improvise, the group spends the night catching up on everyone's week, and by the weekend nobody can tell you what Sunday was about.
A discussion guide fixes that, but only if it exists before group night. Extend the Sermon builds one straight from Sunday's sermon: leader prep, nine questions and a closing prayer, in your church's branding, the same week it was preached.
What leaders get before group night
Every guide opens with prep for the leader, because a volunteer who hasn't thought through the passage can't lead a room through it. There's the big idea in one line, two cross-references that back it up, and a short note on the history behind the text.
When the conversation drifts, the leader already has a line ready to bring it back. There's no separate study to build from scratch, and no notes to dig up on a weeknight after a full day at another job.
Nine questions in an order that moves the group
After the passage is read out loud, the guide works through nine numbered questions built as a set rather than a list. Three ask what the passage actually says, two ask what it means, and three ask how it changes the week ahead. The ninth ties the passage back to the gospel.
That order does the work a leader would otherwise figure out on the fly, and it moves a group from reading the words to living them out. The guide closes in prayer, with a short line to send everyone home on.
A leader note under every question
Under each question sits a note meant for the leader alone. A strong answer to work from, and a second way to ask it if the room goes quiet. There's also a flag for when the group drifts off the passage.
None of it goes in front of the group. A volunteer who's never led a discussion before walks in with an answer already in hand instead of hoping somebody else fills the silence.
A guide that looks like your church
You can edit the guide in place before you download anything. Adjust a line and copy it out as rich text or plain text. Or send a read-only link to a leader who just needs to read it.
When it's ready, it downloads as a PDF in your church's colors, fonts and logo, the same as anything else your team hands out on a Sunday. Email it to a leader, or print it and drop it in the folder before group night.
Ready the same week the sermon was preached
Upload the file or paste the YouTube or Vimeo link, and the guide is usually ready inside an hour. That one upload also builds more than 20 finished pieces from the same transcript. A blog post, a weekly email and a kids take-home sheet. Then 5 to 7 captioned vertical clips, 9 social graphics, and social posts for Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
So Wednesday looks different. The guide's in your leaders' inboxes before lunch, and the rest of the week's already written.
Extend the Sermon comes from the team behind Church Media Squad, more than 3,000 churches since 2017. The first sermon is free and no card is needed, because handing a real guide to a real leader on Wednesday tells you more than any description can. After that it's $97 a month for one sermon a week, and everything it makes is yours to post, send and keep.
